I heard on the radio today that CSU is hosting the first round of the basketball tournament this year?  Is that right?  I know the Vikings suck this year, are they even playing?

It's the Horizon League tourney - all ten teams in the conference are in.

Cleveland State had a nice little run from late January through mid-February and wound up with the 5 seed.  The first round of the conference tournament is on the home floor of the higher seeded team.  Since the Horizon League gives first round byes to the 1 and 2 seeds, CSU hosted the 8 seed (Loyola-Illinois).

CSU got the win (Loyola-Illinois is awful this year) and advances to take on Milwaukee, who looked less than impressive beating a horrible Illinois-Chicago team.

The second and third rounds are in Indianapolis (Butler was the top seed, so they host) and the championship round is on the home floor of the higher remaining seed.

The Vikings lost in the second round, to Milwaukee, 82-75.  They're done, no thrilling March madness run this year - which just goes to show why last year was so awesome.

See you next season, CSU.
