Hypocrisy may be a bit harsh - Toney is, after all, a fighter.  Granted, he's a bit long in the tooth to be signing up - but hey, Herschel Walker looked good in his debut (or his opponent looked bad).

I don't know if this is the sort of "big name" signing that is going to draw new people, though.  If you want to sign a boxer to fight in the UFC and bring some boxing fans to your PPVs with him, sign Iron Mike - people still love to watch that train wreck.

This is an interesting move to be certain.

I'm sure if this gets enough attention and even more improved PPV numbers over the huge ones they already have than that will hopefully be enough to spur the boxing organizations to get up off there ass and put together more big name matches with good coverage and promotion.

I was initially rather put off by hearing about JT getting into the UFC. I'm a boxing fan and I like JT, but it just seems like he talked his way into MMA rather then earn it.

However, after thinking about it a bit I think maybe having Toney in the UFC could be a good thing. After all, Toney has a serious background in boxing. Other MMA fighters have prior athletic backgrounds and get a chance at MMA. Toney should get the same chance. The only other thing is that he's 41 and that seems a bit of a joke.
