Indians 2010 Record: 26-45

Mitch Talbot bounced back impressively from the worst start of his career, holding the Phillies to just two runs on four hits over seven innings, Kerry Wood pitched a perfect inning in relief and Rusell Branyan connected for his 10th home run of the season.  All of that, though, wasn't enough as Jamie Moyer toyed with the Indians for eight innings of two-hit ball, giving up only the solo shot to Branyan, as he tied Bob Feller and Eppa Rixey with his 266th career win.

One night after watching Mitch Talbot and Jamie Moyer pitch competing gems, Jake Westbrook and Kyle Kendrick combined to give up eight earned runs in 9+ innings.  Shin-Soo Choo set the pace for the Indians' offense, connecting for two two-run home runs.  Carlos Santana drove in the other two runs with a sacrifice fly in the third and a fielder's choice in the ninth.  With the Indians clinging to a 6-5 lead in the ninth, Kerry Wood walked Brian Schneider and then gave up Jimmy Rollins' first career walkoff home run for the loss.

After going head-to-head with the NL champion Phillies for the first two games of their series, the Indians laid down and got routed in the finale.  Fausto Carmona had arguably his worst outing of the season, allowing seven runs - five earned - in just four innings of work.  Hector Ambriz relieved him in the fifth and gave up five earned runs of his own as the Phillies pounded the Indians to complete the sweep.

The Indians were competitive for two of the three games, with their offense costing them the first game and their bullpen costing them the second and then putting the third completely out of reach.  While the Phillies are a quality team and have been making their fair share of teams look bad of late, there isn't much of a silver lining for the Indians faithful to point to in this series.
