I heard there was a video on Youtube or something where James basically admitted that he stopped trying in game five because he knew he was leaving and didn't care but I couldn't find it.  I also heard he was going to put a full page ad in the newspaper like C.C. Sabathia did when he left like that would help or something.

Magic Johnson: Joining with Larry Bird, Michael Jordan not an option (ESPN.com)

Magic Johnson, the guy that most students of the game really compare LeBron James to - at least in terms of playing style - has weighed in on the subject, joining Michael Jordan (the real #23) in saying that he wouldn't have joined up with his rivals just to chase rings together either.

I heard about the YouTube video but it appears it was just a hoax/spoof. By the time I heard about it, it had already been marked "offensive" by YouTube and now I can't even find the link.

As for the full page ad, I think that was something somebody floated either to compare the way that Sabathia handled it to the way James handled it or as something James should try to get out from under the national firestorm surrounding the whole mess (which wouldn't work at this point anyway).

I think it's great that all of his heros are saying he's a chump and a ring chaser but I wonder if he even cares. He sure won't once he gets those rings with Superman and Ru Paul.

A month later and a few days after Zydrunas Ilgauskas did it, LeBron James took out an ad in the Akron Beacon Journal - apparently still thinking he's welcome around these parts:

LeBron James thanks Akron in ad (ESPN.com)
