Sessions played in all 82 games last year... wow. Don't like either of their free throw percentages.

I'm pretty sure all contracts in the NBA are guaranteed. Both Telfair and West signed 3-year contracts in 2008.

West's contract has a $500,000 guarantee - this season is a team option, so they can just choose not to pick it up. As far as I know, Telfair's is a standard guaranteed contract.

As for the numbers of our newest Cavaliers, last year was the lowest free throw percentage for Sessions (not that the previous seasons were ground shattering, admittedly). His numbers were also way down last year in every category because his minutes got cut a lot by Flynn. Sadly, it was Hollins' best season from the line (but none of the centers can shoot free throws).

I see this as a good thing.  We were gonna dump West anyway.  We picked up two young players in positions we needed plus a draft pick and lost two guys we don't need.  That's a win/win for us.

All we can do is go young now anyway.  And this was a smart trade.  I don't think we're gonna see the Cavs sign anyone expensive.  My guess is, they intend to go young where it makes sense, and free up as much cap space for next year when they will be in a good position to cherry pick out some good players (Depending on who is available).  Then, with the draft picks, you can start the process of building a team around whoever you get.

It's a multiyear plan, but that's fine.  The Cavs can now take the time to build a good "team" and not just focus on a single player.  I'm all for this.

Cavaliers Sign Samardo Samuels (ClevelandCavaliers.com)

Another athletic forward that gives the team some options and some depth.  Samuels was pretty well regarded coming out of college and then fell off the map for some reason.  He looked good in the summer league, but - well - that was the summer league.  He could very well wind up being a steal, though, and the team gets him for nothing so while it's not the big splash that people have been wanting this team to make all offseason, it's a good move.
