Most people don't have the time or inclination to scour the Web the way that I do, so this will be a thread where I'll be posting links to some of the best articles coming out about this whole sordid affair.  While many people say that Clevelanders need to get over this and that we're blowing it all out of proportion, the fact is that there's plenty of venom flowing from other corners of the country as well.  Even I can look at it and say that while Cleveland probably didn't offer the best chance at a ring (that was probably Chicago), a lot of that was LeBron's doing.  The FACT is that he damaged his "brand" badly - he went from "hometown hero, determined to ease the long-standing suffering of the most cursed sports fans in the country" to WWE-style heel overnight.  Check out some of these articles for people who can say it a lot more succinctly than I can and please feel free to add your own or comment on these.

LeBron comes out looking like coward, not king (Gregg Doyell, CBSSports.com): What a fraud. What a scared little kid. Greatest player of all time? This guy? Nope. Not now. Not ever.

LeBron, Loyalty, and the Suffering of Cleveland Sports Fans (Andrew Schnitkey, WaitingForNextYear.com): The joke was on us all along. After all, loyalty is dead is sports. Now we know for sure. Maybe this time we won’t forget.

That's a good one, I hadn't seen it.

Here's some national reaction - just to show that it's NOT just people around Cleveland blasting James because we're a bitter pack of sore losers...

LeBron Reaction Outside of NE Ohio (WaitingForNextYear.com): LeBron James did not believe in himself enough. He just wasn’t quite sure if he’s good enough to make his own team win in Cleveland. Maybe he’s not. The shame of it for Cleveland is: We’ll never know.

Gilbert's letter signals wider backlash (J.A. Adande, ESPN.com): James had alienated so many fans with the way he had representatives of six teams trek to Cleveland to play out the entire process, even though, as one of the general managers said, "We knew only two or three teams had a chance to get these guys." He lost even more people by choosing to announce his decision on ESPN in an elaborate show. How could any non-Heat fan watch this thing play out and think, "I wanna root for this guy?"

A friend of mine posted this on his Facebook.  I don't normally associate Vanity Fair with sports journalism but it was good.
