Agent: Ilgauskas headed to Heat (ESPN.com)

No surprise.  Z will be chasing his ring in Miami and you'd be hard pressed to find anybody in Cleveland who will fault him for doing it.  He's been the face of the Cavs for over a decade and it sucks to see him go but the writing was on the wall with the way that last season played out.  If the cavs had won it, I think he would have retired and if the Heat win it this year, I think he'll do the same.  No Z jerseys are burning in the streets and I think that when Miami comes here for the first time, people will stop booing LeBron long enough to give Z an ovation during the announcement of the lineups.  It'll be weird seeing the Miami Heat playing against the Cavs with the Cavs' all-time leaders in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots, games played and a fistful of other categories on the other side of the floor.

He apparently plans to keep his home here and hopes to return to the team when he retires.

Sadly, I do have to stop short of saying that I hope he gets his ring.  I want injuries, back officiating, hurricanes - whatever it takes - to befall the Heat and keep them from winning.

I'm heartbroken.  It sucked when we traded him last year but we all knew he'd be back.  I wish he could have gotten a ring before he retired, even if it wasn't here, but not now.  I'm with you.  I hope the Heat get bounced in the playoffs every year, at least until Lefraud leaves.  Then I don't care.

Unfortunately, I think we're seeing that the value of winning championships is worth more than whatever a team can pay you.  My guess is, Lebron and company will lure better and better players for next-to-nothing cash, because the endorsement money and future contract payouts will be so lucrative for a player that wins, vs staying with a shitty team and not getting anything.

In other words, I think we're seeing that the NBA is broken.

Most of the voice I am hearing believe that the Heat will win championship after championship, barring any injuries.  I'm starting to believe it.  The next step will be that when the coach retires, they'll hire Mike Brown and Danny.

That's how it would work in the Miami dream world, except there aren't going to be any endorsement deals outside of Lebron, Bosh, and Wade.

I do think that the NBA is broken, especially with all teams having a salary cap, but some teams not having state taxes. It also appears they needed "franchise" tags for players.

Oh well, I'm sure David Stern has a plan to get us past the league of superteams.

BTW, I like Z, but don't want to see him win a ring in Miami.

If you're some young player on that team, and you win the championships with them, then you are a five time champion as well.  Then you get traded to the Jazz or something, and it's payola city for you both in contracts and endorsements.  Every agent there is would tell their players, "Yea, go make 1 million and play for the Heat.  We'll get you 50 million a few years from now."
