It's a sad day for the Buckeye football program.  Jim Tressel announced his resignation this morning.  The NCAA got their pound of flesh in their continued drive to maintain their slave-state fiefdom.

Luke Fickell, who had already been selected to coach the team during Tressel's suspension, will be the interim coach for the upcoming season.  The university will not begin their search for a new coach until the conclusion of the season.

Terrelle Pryor = gone.  He's leaving because it's what it is "in the best interests of the team".  My ass!  This punk hasn't thought about the team since he donned his cap and declared that he'd be going to the University of Ohio State.  Now we find out from one of his (former) peeps that he was selling his autograph on the side, raking in thousands.  I still say he should be allowed to, but he sure as all hell shouldn't be talking about "the best interests" of his teammates.

We knew he was no genius when he defended Michael Vick with his infamous "everybody kills and murders people" comment.  Then he showed up for practice in a new tricked out sled while players were being investigated over their cars.  Now he decides to leave OSU AFTER the draft, during a lockout, with no idea whether he'll even be eligible for the supplemental draft.  Good luck to whatever NFL team takes him (I'm thinking it would HAVE to be the Raiders).

Ohio State football: Blame players, not fans and coaches, Clarett says (Dispatch.com)

Maurice Clarett really HAS matured.  Well said, from a guy who would know.

The UFL and CFL are both expressing interest in Pryor.  It has been reported, though, that he has already told the Saskatchewan Roughriders (who acquired his CFL rights) that he's not interested and will be looking to join the NFL.

Ohio State announced another round of sanctions on itself in another attempt to keep the NCAA from dropping the hammer harder on them.  They have vacated their wins from last season and placed the football team on probation for two years.  They've also announced more compliance efforts, notably players will be required to prove that they have any memorabilia or souvenirs they have been issued and, going forward, those items will not be given to players until they leave the program.

The University has also stated for the first time that they did seek Jim Tressel's resignation - something they had denied doing up until now.
