The Indians prospects continue to shine at multiple levels throughout the minors. Perhaps more noteworthy is the fact that it's not always the usual suspects and it hasn't been all of the highly touted prospects either.

Cleveland Brown Jerome Harrison, September 4th

The Captains seem to have promotions all the time. The one they did with Josh Cribbs was really cool. A friend of mine met Harrison at a signing and said he was a really cool guy. It was kind of a bummer when he was holding out. I think he's going to have a really good year too.

Complete game shutout for Captains' Brach

Simply Un-Brach-able! Brett Brach continues to dominate at the single A level. How long 'til he makes the move to Akron?
Crazy numbers from another power hitting first base prospect in the Indians organization. Stuck behind Matt LaPorta, he's unlikely to get to the big club anytime soon, though. What he does give the Indians is another piece that can be used a year or two down the road when we need that one big outfield bat or some pitching help.
This is what it's all about, especially in the minor leagues. It's nice to see that teams like this are still going out of their way to create a fun family atmosphere and, as a lifelong Cleveland sports fan, I'm sorry that I missed this. This sounds like a good one.

Despite everything that's gone wrong with the Indians this season, it's good to see the minor league affiliates doing well as that can only mean good things for the Tribe down the road. In the meantime I plan on checking out some minor league games next season with the Captain and possibly the Akron Aeros. If you're lucky enough to have a major league team and still be near some of your minor league franchises, I definitely recommend it.

Good for the team, good for the city, good for everyone involved really. But I still don't like the whole naming rights game. There's just something less "down home" about going to Midol Extra-Strength Pain Reliever Field. I miss the days when they were named for the people who built them or team or the city. Teas have already started to try to move toward corporate sponsors on jerseys - team naming rights will be next. At that point, I think I may finally be able to wash my hands of sports as I've tried to do in the past when they've jerked around with tradition in the name of the almighty dollar.

Good news for the Captains as the current conference lineups made no sense geographically. Having teams like Lake County travel to Georgia for games when there Indiana and Michigan that they didn't play was kind of foolish.
