In a battle of bad teams, this game exceeded expectation as to just how bad it would be. Derek Anderson completed only two passes for 23 yards in the game while throwing an interception and was the winning QB. Jamal Lewis was the lone bright spot for the Browns' offense, breaking the 100 yard mark in his first game back after missing two weeks. It was Lewis' first 100 yard game since 2007.
Buffalo continually shot themselves in the foot, racking up 13 penalties for 75 yards in the game - including 9 false starts. Trent Edwards threw his fifth interception in three games and the usually sound Roscoe Parrish fumbled a punt the set up the winning field goal for the Browns, who managed less than 200 yards of total offense as they picked up their first win of the season and snapped a ten game losing streak dating back to last season when they lost their last six after beating Buffalo.
The Good: Dave Zastudil buried the Bills all game long, lading seven of his nine punts inside the Buffalo 20 yard line - including three punts that were downed inside the 5.
The Bad: After recovering the Parrish fumble at the Buffalo 16, the Browns once again had to settle for a field goal.
The Ugly: TWO Derek Anderson completions on 17 attempts for 23 yards and an interception, giving Anderson a QB rating of 15.1. The two completions were the fewest by a winning team since October 2000 when Cincinnati did it. Cincinnati, though, had over 400 yards rushing in the game.
The Browns finally picked up a win, but they looked much better in their loss the previous week to Cincinnati. This game, though, may have ended the debate on whether Cleveland is the worst team in the NFL - Buffalo looked truly awful. The Browns' performance doesn't instill any sense of hope as they head into a road matchup against the defending world champion Pittsburgh Steelers.
