Derek Anderson tried to get the Browns going out of the gate, throwing for 55 yards in the first quarter to set up a go ahead field goal at the start of the second quarter as the Browns drew first blood, 3-0, over the Packers. That was as good as it would get.
On the Packers' next possession, Aaron Rodgers found Spencer Havner who rumbled 45 yards for the touchdown as the Browns defenders once again showcased their inability to tackle ball carriers. Rodgers followed that up with 71 yard strike to a wide open Donald Driver on the Packers' next possession and Ryan Grant ran it in from 1 yard out for Green Bay's third touchdown in as many series.
The third quarter saw Green Bay cash in a Josh Cribbs fumble for a field goal and in the fourth, Rodgers found James Jones for a short 5 yard touchdown to cap the blowout.
Rodgers passed for 246 yards and three touchdowns with the bulk of that coming on short passes that Packers receivers broke for big yards after the catch - with some good tackling, the Browns could have made a game out of this contest. The Browns only managed any pressure against Rodgers out of their heavy blitz packages, but Rogers seemed to know exactly where the openings in coverage would be. Ryan Grant (148 yards) more than doubled the Browns' rushers (58) as the Packers' cornerbacks locked down the Browns receivers, allowing them to stuff the box against the run. Derek Anderson managed only 44 yards after the first quarter and threw one interception as he was constantly hurried into bad decisions.
The Good: If you had to pick something, the offensive line protection was pretty solid, allowing only two sacks on a day when Derek Anderson was forced to hold onto the ball while waiting, in vain, for receivers to get open downfield.
The Bad: Browns defenders have gone back to their old tricks of failing to tackle, leading to a ton of yards after catches; two of Green Bay's three touchdown completions were for over 40 yards.
The Ugly: The Browns failed to register a single sack against a Green Bay squad that was giving up an average of five per game entering the contest.
